Home / Uncategorized / IPT Malta: Heitmann doubles; De Meulder triples

An excellent start for Team PokerStars Pro Jan Heitmann who won a huge flip with ace-queen against Andrea Izzo’s pocket tens for a 120,000 chip pot. Heitmann has since added another 30,000 to his stack and is going rather well, sharing a table with Eureka4 Prague champion Balazs Botond.

Elsewhere Mathias De Meulder has literally just trebled up with king-queen against pocket tens and jack-ten. De Meulder managed to hit both his cards twice on a 3-K-K-Q-Q board moving back up to 40,000. His brother Christophe had not been having much fortune early on, his stack knocked down to less than 30,000 but the latter De Meulder has just won a substantial pot on a 2♦ 8♣ 10♥ 8♦ 2♠ board with K♣ 10♠ against Marc Negron. Christophe De Meulder is now back up to 55,000.

On a similar stack is the WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson. It might be quite surreal for some of the other players to see a man who won $10 million in a tournament a few months ago sitting next to them. The bad news for those players sharing his table is that the Swede is taking the event as seriously as everyone else.

Over 100 players have been eliminated in the first 90 minutes including Simon Matsson, Diogo Cardoso, FPS Deauville winner Niels van Leeuwen, Shannon Shorr, Russell Thomas, Artur Koren, Simeon Naydenov, Victorino Torres and Luca Moschitta.

Downstairs there are two other events under way, a €200 rebuy satellite to the IPT €2,000 High Roller event which has seen 94 players sign up while there is over 160 runners in the €500 Deep Stack Turbo with over 40 players already on the alternates list for this event.

IPT Malta update:

– Less than 400 players remain
– Level 12: 800/1,600 (200)
– 191 places will be paid
– The bubble is expected to burst in either level 15 or 16
