It goes without saying that Negreanu has been there before, but I’ll say it anyway. Negreanu already has six bracelets — earned across three continents — the last one in WSOP Europe in 2013. He’s a man comfortable in handling the business end of an event like this, and yesterday came within a whisker of making it seven.
Alas, he busted in third place behind some quality opposition in Stephen Chidwick, in second place, and eventual winner Max Pescatori (earning his second bracelet of the summer). Still, that third place though was good for $113,062.
Negreanu, ever the optimist, was pragmatic in reflecting on the result:
Finished in 3rd place after losing two tough hands in crunch time. Had a blast playing and already seated in the $50k Players Championship!

Not a bad way to cure any lingering disappointment. In the meantime congratulations to Negreanu on what proved a close run. Number seven cannot be far away.
