We’ll be honest. We’ve been hanging around the office this past week or so with our hands in our pockets. Since the EPT Grand Final ended last month we’ve let the blog rest a little, but it has not rested happily. SCOOP aside all we’ve done is kick the tires, lift the hood to pretend we know how it all works behind the scenes, and let it tick over for a while. Meanwhile people in the office have stared at us.

But finally we now have something to focus our attention on. For while it might only have been four weeks since Season 11 ended, we can now announce details of how and when Season 12 will begin, and all it will involve. Frankly, this news couldn’t have come soon enough.

Today we can provide details of that, the opening event of the 12 season of the European Poker Tour, which once again starts in Barcelona, Spain, proving that you can count on more things in life than just death and taxes.

Not only will Barcelona be back, but so too will be the Estrellas Poker Tour Season 6 Grand Final, which for the fourth year running will join the EPT festival, and which last year created the largest freezeout field in PokerStars history, with 2,560 players.

It all starts on August 18, and runs through to August 30. During that time there will be 71 events, more than at any other Barcelona festival, with a few additions to appeal to every level of player, not least the construction of a marquee to accommodate the sheer volume of people expected to walk through the Casino doors.

Here are the key highlights of the festival

August 19: €1,000 + €100 Estrellas Main Event
August 22: €48,500 + €1,500 Super High Roller
August 23: €2,000 + €200 Estrellas High Roller
August 24: €5,000 + €300 EPT Main Event
August 25: €25,000 + €500 Single Day Super High Roller
August 28: €10,000 + €300 EPT High Roller

Obviously a couple of things stand out, notably that additional single day €25k Super High Roller that went down so well in Monaco. That’ll keep you busy on August 25. Elsewhere the Main Event buy-in remains the same, and there’s the usual array of high rollers to make your eyes water.

But it’s not just about big buy-ins. The schedule includes the same array of low buy in events, and all those in between, ensuring that whatever your bankroll an EPT festival is the place for you.

What’s more you can get there for a snip, with satellites for the EPT and the ESPT Barcelona Main Events already under way on the PokerStars client. And if you miss out on Barcelona, there’s more to come in Season 12 of the EPT.

Take a look.

Yep, we’re still keeping that March festival quiet.
